Historic Moto Gran Prix (HMGP) announces its partnership with Historic Sports Car Racing, Ltd. (HSR) to run historic/vintage motorcycle race events and bike show competitions at select future HSR events. HSR sanctions historic automotive racing at some of the most famous race tracks in the U.S., including Miller Motorsports Park, Sebring and Road Atlanta.

The first HMGP event was held May 1-4, 2008 at Road Atlanta concurrent with the 30th Anniversary Walter Mitty Challenge. HSR President, Steve Simpson was thrilled with the new motorcycle component, calling it an overwhelming success! Steve claimed the fans and automotive participants all were electrified and he has had nothing but rave reviews on the first-ever event to include motorcycle racing. Steve also remarked about the enthusiasm from everyone at HSR and stated “We’ll be looking forward to bigger and better things and greater participation from HMGP at future joint events. We are extremely excited to have them as our partner, introducing an exciting and entirely new facet to our events!”
HMGP is looking for owners of historic, vintage, collectible or former factory race bikes, who would like to bring their bikes back out to show or to race on-track. The race format for all competition will be gentleman’s racing, in four classes and grouped largely by production era. Special hospitality is available to all participants at no cost during each event and is included with your HMGP membership. Interested parties who are owners of classic or vintage bikes, or those who own former AMA, World Superbike or MotoGP bikes are encouraged to join HMGP and show and/or race their heritage/vintage bikes at future events.
HMGP will feature a special promotional event during AMA rounds and include a special feature vintage bike show & competition. Chet Burks Television Productions will be filming this event for television broadcast. The vintage bike show will feature competition in various classes with trophies for the top three finishers in each class. We also look forward to future events having participation from Yamaha as a corporate sponsor and partner at select events.

Interested parties are encouraged to send photos and a brief history of their bike to racebill@windstream.net.

Membership & event sign-up is easy and now online at: www.historicmotogranprix.com
